It has now passed another night in the woods, and it became a full night this time. I was in an area some distance north of Oskarshamn and I had all 17 singing nightjars in a relatively small area. I caught two pieces and had several that arrived at the net. They had a short singbreak just after midnight, but they were soon running again. Others who heard or seen during the night was several tawny owls, a woodlark and five wild boars. Although it looks to be good weather even in the night so I will not go out tonight. I'll have my standard ringing early tomorrow, so I will go up when I normally have gone to bed in recent days. Tomorrow I will lead an excursion into the nightjarforest for our bird club, and when the participants have left home so I continue in my attempt to capture more nightjars. Overall, it has now been nine ringed in this year so there is some way to go to 40 that I caught last year, but it is approximately one month of season left before the eggs hatch. Last year it seemed like they stopped coming to the CD player when this happened.
