Årets första var en vitnackad nattskärra. ------This years first is a Whitenecked Nightjar.

Yesterday evening I went out to the forest to try to catch this years first nightjar and I trapped Swedens first whitenecked nightjar. After a while I could hear a nightjar answer the playback and a while thereafter a nightjar flying into me and the mistnet and beeing trapped. When I look at the nightjar I could see several white feathers in his neck and I have never seen that before on any nightjar. I have catch 249 nightjars now and this is the first time I see clear white feathers on a nightjar. Many other birds have partial albinism with white feathers in their plumage and of course nightjars can have it too.
