Domesticated nightjar.

Last night was a good night, 10 nightjars was trapped in the mistnet and the weather was perfect for a nightly visit in the forest. One of the nightjars will not fly away when I released him and he think he has found a perfect branch in my finger.
Even this night a nightjar with different white spots was trapped.

Big variations on the nightjars.

Last night I got two nightjars with different spots on there wings. One have two clear spots and one indistinct. Next have 4 clear spots and beginning to a fifth spot. Both was birds who was born last year.
The last nightjar for the night was a female with big incubationpatch on the belly.
I even got a Longeared bat in the net
I even found a new way of using a power line pole. Perfect netpole!!

More and more nightjars.

Now it´s perfect to cath nightjars. No gnats, a little bit mosquitos, fullmone and several nightjars. The first nestling are on theres wing and the adults fly around more to collect food to the nestlings.
After the past night we can sum 76 newringed birds and 29 recoveries for this year and it´s much more left of the season.

More nightjars.

Last night was another good nigt in the forest and we catch 12 more nightjars. Three of them was recoveries. They are now hatching and some of them even has chicks in the nest I presume. I caught a female with the mouth full of insects.

NICE NIGHTJAR NIGHTS

Now we have fine nights for nigthjartrapping. Warm, calm and a lot of mosquitos and gnats.
Last nigtht I and Gabriel catch 14 nigtjars in the short Swedish night and a new night are on the way.
